2017 Oakland Beach Exhibit: Call for Artifacts
Entry Deadline: March 30th
Announcing “2017 Oakland Beach in the 1960’s” Exhibit: WCFA is seeking objects and artifacts related to Oakland Beach, specifically in the mid-20th century (1930s through 1970s). We will be holding an "Oakland Beach in the 1960s" Exhibit in June 2017 that highlights the art, society, and nature of Oakland Beach during that time period, featuring a collection of art photographs from that era. We would love to incorporate various objects and artifacts alongside the photography on the gallery walls.
The categories of objects/artifacts that we have in mind for that era are as follows:
- Amusements/The Midway – tickets/tokens/prizes/signage from the old carousel, bowling alley, theater, wax museum, rollercoaster, or other rides, games, and amusements
- The Community – artifacts from the fire department, yacht clubs, early days of JONAH, or other neighborhood organizations
- Transportation – tickets/tokens from the trolley and bus service, trolley/bus maps, etc.
Submissions are by specific exhibit, and professional presentation is crucial for maintaining a high-quality viewing experience. Artists should read the information below before submitting their work. Regrettably, we cannot hang artwork that fails to meet these requirements.
