Adult Classes

Education is life-long so we offer creative, hands-on instruction for all ages. Classes help students explore mediums more fully, establish rapport with instructors, and meet other creative people. Our instructors offer technical guidance and encouragement so students stretch their imaginations and their artistic skills!

Introduction to Still Life Drawing & Painting

Saturday, November 11, 18, 25, December 2, 9, & 16 (12 -2pm)

Cost: $135 for non-members / $120 for WCFA Members

Students will learn the process of choosing, arranging, and composing a tableau of objects to be painted. They will follow a logical flow of process from sketching and drawing the arrangements with an accurate drawing, and then transferring the drawing to canvas as preparation for painting. The painting itself will follow a process that is designed to make any subject approachable and understandable. The course will primarily be concerned with oil painting, but the same approaches will apply to acrylic painting as well so choose the medium of your liking. An emphasis will be placed on individual approach and creativity. A list of suggested colors, brushes, canvas, or other grounds and accessories will be provided. Some familiarity with drawing and painting is desirable, but not necessary.
