Classes

Education is life-long so we offer creative, hands-on instruction for all ages. Classes help students explore mediums more fully, establish rapport with instructors, and meet other creative people. Our instructors offer technical guidance and encouragement so students stretch their imaginations and their artistic skills!

Mondays: 3:30 - 5:30pm

Cost: $180 for 5-week class (5 Classes - All Materials are included)

Kick off the week with creativity! Over this 5-week session led by WCFA instructor Rebecca Stockdill students age 12 – 16 will explore a variety of mediums such as drawing, painting, printmaking, and mixed media arts – a great opportunity for students to build their portfolio for School! Beginners have the chance to try out different mediums and experienced students can sharpen their skills all while having fun and meeting other students with similar interests!

*Coming Soon* Art After School: Drawing & Illustration 

Tuesdays & Thursdays: 3:30 - 5:30pm (Ages 10 - 16)

Cost: $360 for 6-week class (10 Classes - All Materials are included)

This 6-Week Session for ages 10 - 16 led by instructor Jerry Shippee is centered around the “commercial arts” and will focus on art forms that are vocational. Students will be exposed to vocational arts in but not limited to magazine illustration, comic strips & books, video game character design, basic animator, and tee shirt design. Students will be given lessons and shown techniques in drawing, pen and ink, watercolor, and mixed media arts in an open curriculum, where they can pick the area in which they would like to learn/improve/focus.

Teen Classes

Ages 13-17

We are currently in the process of putting together a teen art class program. If you have a group of teens who are interested in a particular medium/class/technique we would be happy to put a class together with one of our amazing teaching artists! For more info call us at 401-737-0010!

BYOI Youth Collective is the name for students in the comedy classes run by Bring Your Own Improv (BYOI). For the past year, these improv comedy classes have been a big hit -- and spaces fill up months in advance. To learn more visit bringyourownimprov.com

Adult Art Classes and Programs

Gelatin Monoprinting Class for Adults and Seniors (

Gelatin Monoprinting is a popular technique used to create art for use in collages, art journals, and as backgrounds for paintings and drawings. Art instructor Patty Martucci will demonstrate how to use a Gelli Plate with acrylic paints, brayers, stencils, items found in nature (leaves/flowers) and cut paper to create these colorful and appealing pages. Students will explore new techniques each week. Beginners as well as more experienced artists are encouraged to register! This is a great opportunity for participants to “play” with new materials and processes. All materials will be provided, but students can also bring their own stencils and small, flat objects from nature if they wish.

*NEW* Introduction to Still Life Drawing & Painting

Saturday, November 11, 18, 25, December 2, 9, & 16 (6-Weeks) Time: 12:00 - 2:00pm

Students will learn the process of choosing, arranging, and composing a tableau of objects to be painted. They will follow a logical flow of process from sketching and drawing the arrangements with an accurate drawing, and then transferring the drawing to canvas as preparation for painting. The painting itself will follow a process that is designed to make any subject approachable and understandable. The course will primarily be concerned with oil painting, but the same approaches will apply to acrylic painting as well so choose the medium of your liking. An emphasis will be placed on individual approach and creativity. A list of suggested colors, brushes, canvas, or other grounds and accessories will be provided. Some familiarity with drawing and painting is desirable, but not necessary. 

Cost: $135 for Non-Members / $120 for WCFA Members
