Through the Window Juried Show

Entry Deadline: June 17, 2020

The “window” concept is not only a literal reference, but also figurative -- and drawn from our current worldwide environment.

A window is sometimes a barrier, and sometimes a portal. It lets in the light or keeps out the cold. It indicates possibilities or limitations. Over the past 2 months, our windows have become evermore important -- as one of the primary ways we interact with each other and the outside world.

Now, here's a chance to interpret this theme in a personal way through your art. This call will be open to all mediums, including but not limited to, drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, digital art, photography, and textiles. We encourage you to submit artwork that best represents you!

The show will run from June 27 - Aug 8 in our main gallery.  We anticipate our opening reception and awards will be conducted via Zoom. We will offer a $200 excellence award, with the right to add additional prizes.

Abiding Courage Exhibition

Entry Deadline: Mon, Feb 10, midnight

WCFA is excited to announce its first national call for art, as well as our partnership with the  Shall Not Be Denied initiative to mark an important milestone in women's suffrage -- to celebrate the centennial of the 19th Amendment.

One hundred years ago the US Constitution was amended to ensure individual states could no longer deny women their right to vote. The long struggle to ratify the 19th Amendment brought forward thousands of heroic women who stood up for the first time to demand their rights.

The goal of the exhibition is to bring together history and contemporary artwork to inspire viewers to think critically about the right to vote and to encourage participation in our democracy. Keeping themes in mind, all media are welcome (2D, 3D, abstract, or representational). Follow our  Facebook activities!

To ensure we reach a broad range of artists for this important exhibition, we're using the CaFE tool to administer submissions for Abiding Courage, a juried exhibition running March 4 - April 9, 2020. It's a great simple tool, and we're always available to answer any questions regarding its use.

Juror: Jonny Skye, Skye Gallery, Providence, RI
