Meditation cultivates a better understanding of ourselves and the world around us and develops the tools we need to make the world a better place. The practice is logical, practical, transformative, and socially impactful. It’s really pretty easy. One quiet hour together – a small investment for a big return.

Chairs are provided, but feel free to bring your mat or cushion.

**We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please contact 401-737-0010 or email meditateforwellbeing@gmail.com

Our mindfulness meditation is lead by Paulette Miller. The sessions offer a westernized, secular version of Vipassana, also known as insight, open-hearted, and analytic meditation. The format of the hour practice is in the style preferred by Jon Kabat Zinn (creator of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine – University of Massachusetts Medical School) and other recognized and popular teachers (Jack Kornfield, Sharon Salzberg, Tara Brach, Joseph Goldstein, et al). Sessions often include guided breathing meditation, movement meditation, and loving-kindness meditation. From time-to-time, we use music meditation and almost always include a poem. The meditation exercises are guided. It’s a quiet hour. No experience needed. Participants sit in chairs or on a yoga mat/cushion.

Although the benefits of mindfulness on stress reduction are well-founded, the meditation practice also enhances resilience by strengthening the innate ability to cope and make wiser and kinder decisions – no matter the challenge or the opportunity of today or tomorrow.
Sitting in stillness and practicing together puts our problems on pause and lights the path to well-being – a path of purpose, pleasure, and peace.

About Paulette Miller

Paulette has been studying and practicing versions of meditation and yoga for over 50 years. Now retired from business, Paulette volunteers her time as a meditation group facilitator and has been teaching meditation for many years. The lessons learned while earning her master’s degree in education (adult training and development) are put to good use. At the same time, she strengthens her own meditation practice and has met some wonderful people.

Our regular schedule includes meeting in-person on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month and virtually (via zoom) on the 2nd, 4th, & 5th Monday of the month.
